Hi! I am Lujia! I am an MScSLP student and PhD candidate in the combined program at the University of Alberta, Canada. I am one of the authors and the illustrator of the Apple Mandarin Speech Test, and I am also a bilingual Mandarin-English speaker 😆!

I cherish my identity as a bilingual speaker and am deeply passionate about preserving heritage languages. I love phonology and clinical research. My previous research covers the phonological development of bilingual children, cross-cultural comparison of the impact of language on music, and single-case experimental design in rehabilitation medicine.

I hope the Apple Mandarin Speech Test will become a valid and reliable tool for SLPs from diverse language backgrounds to assess Mandarin monolingual and bilingual children. This has been a wonderful journey, and I feel very fortunate to have the support and guidance of Dr. Karen Pollock, along with the help of many other professionals and students who have generously shared their valuable insights into this test. Our team continues to grow stronger because of you, and we always welcome others who share our passion to join us!
